How to Connect to VPN on Your Mobile Device: Step-by-Step Guide for iOS and Android

Using a VPN ensures that your internet connection is encrypted and your data is protected while you work outside the office.

This guide provides clear instructions on how to connect to the company VPN using both iOS and Android devices. Please follow the steps appropriate for your device.

1. Preparations Before You Start

  • Ensure your device is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or cellular data.
  • Obtain your VPN credentials (username, password) and server address from the IT department.
  • Download the official VPN client app recommended by our company. (Typically, this will be Cisco AnyConnect, Pulse Secure, or similar.)

Connecting to VPN on iOS Devices (iPhone/iPad)

Step 1: Download the VPN App

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Search for the VPN client recommended by your IT department (e.g., Cisco AnyConnect).
  3. Tap Get and install the app.

Step 2: Configure the VPN Profile

  1. Open the installed VPN app.
  2. Tap Add VPN Connection or + to create a new VPN profile.
  3. Enter the required information:
    • Description: Enter a name such as "Company VPN".
    • Server Address: Input the VPN server address provided.
  4. Save the profile.

Step 3: Connect to the VPN

  1. From the VPN app, select the VPN profile you created.
  2. Enter your username and password when prompted.
  3. Tap Connect.
  4. Once connected, you will see a VPN icon in the status bar.

Step 4: Disconnecting

  1. Open the VPN app.
  2. Tap Disconnect when you want to end the session.

Connecting to VPN on Android Devices

Step 1: Download the VPN App

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Search for the VPN client recommended by the IT department (e.g., Cisco AnyConnect).
  3. Tap Install to download and install the app.

Step 2: Configure the VPN Profile

  1. Launch the VPN app.
  2. Tap the + icon or menu option to add a new VPN connection.
  3. Input the server address and profile name as given by IT.
  4. Save the configuration.

Step 3: Connect to the VPN

  1. Select the VPN profile from the list.
  2. Enter your username and password.
  3. Tap Connect.
  4. You will see a key icon in the notification bar indicating that the VPN is active.

Step 4: Disconnecting

  1. Open the VPN app.
  2. Tap Disconnect or slide the toggle to off.
